General Information Grimhaven is a town caught in a slow-motion struggle. Unlike the dark, suffocating depths of the deeper woods, Grimhaven sits in a rare thinning of the canopy. Here, the Great Trees stand tall but spaced apart, allowing shafts of golden, dust-mote-filled sunlight to pierce through the leaves. It is a place of dappled shadows and ancient stone, where the line between civilization and the wild has blurred into a tangle of green and grey. The town is defined by its Ancient City Walls. Once high and imposing, they are now weathered by centuries of damp and rot. They aren't the towering bastions they once were; instead, they are low, crumbling structures completely surrendered to the forest. Thick ivy, strangler vines, and pale moss drape over the battlements like a living shroud, making the town look as though it grew out of the earth rather than being built upon it. Because of the thinning canopy, the air in Grimhaven is warmer and brighter than the "High Bitterlands" outside, but it carries a humid, heavy scent of blooming wildflowers, damp wood, and ancient decay. Life in Grimhaven Life in Grimhaven is harsh but honest. The people rise with the birds, work until the shadows stretch long, and share meals around large communal hearths.
